Building a GPS tracking report usually requires selecting columns, arranging information, and defining filters until the result matches an operational need. In this update, we integrated the artificial intelligence assistant with the Secure GPS report editor so users can request those changes with natural language instructions.
A user can describe the desired result, such as adding a column, removing unnecessary information, or showing only records that meet a condition. Secure GPS interprets the request in the context of the current report and applies compatible changes for the user to review.
What a custom report means in Secure GPS
Reports organize information received from trackers during a selected period. A report is built with columns, which determine which data is displayed, and filters, which limit the records included in the result.
Depending on the report type and information sent by the device, columns may represent dates, locations, speed, distance, sensors, or other available attributes. Filters focus the analysis on a vehicle, range, condition, or value that matters to the operation.
Manual editing remains available. The new feature adds another way to work: explain the desired change in words and let the assistant prepare the corresponding configuration.
Add, remove, and reorganize columns with AI
The assistant uses the columns supported by the report being edited. From an instruction, it can insert a column, replace an existing one, remove information that is no longer useful, or change the order in which data appears.
- Add: “Include speed after the time” can add that data when it is available for the report.
- Remove: “Remove columns I do not need for reviewing time” can simplify the presentation.
- Replace: one column can be exchanged for another attribute without rebuilding the entire query.
- Reorder: users can request identifiers first and operating values afterward.
- Rename: an added column can receive a label that is clearer to the people using the report.
This workflow is useful when a report offers many options and the user understands the business result but does not remember the exact name of every field in Secure GPS.
Apply and organize filters with an instruction
Filters exclude information that does not belong in the analysis. The assistant can add a compatible condition, remove it, replace it, or change its position in the report configuration.
A manager can request “show only records from the delivery group” or “filter temperatures above the defined limit,” provided those attributes and values are available from the device and supported by the selected report type.
Secure GPS validates that the requested attribute and condition are available before including them. If the instruction uses data the report does not provide, the user receives feedback and can refine the request instead of silently applying an invalid configuration.
How to use the assistant in the report editor
- Select an existing report or prepare the report type you need.
- Choose the devices and period to analyze.
- Open the assistant available in the editor.
- Describe the change with a specific instruction.
- Review the resulting columns and filters.
- Generate the report and compare it with the original need.
- Continue the conversation to adjust, reorder, or remove elements.
The conversation retains report context, so a second instruction can refine the previous one. Users can begin with a general structure and then request specific changes without describing the full configuration again.
An example for a distribution operation
A coordinator needs to review deliveries from several vehicles and prepare a simple report for the operations team. Starting from a report with many columns, the coordinator asks the assistant to keep the date, device, location, and duration, then requests that the fields begin with the vehicle.
A filter is then added for the delivery group, and the selected period is generated. If an important detail is missing, the coordinator can request another column and run the report again.
Instead of manually browsing every list of options, the coordinator works from the goal: a clear view of delivery activity. The generated configuration remains visible and can be reviewed before the result is shared or exported.
An example with temperature or fuel sensors
When a compatible tracker sends sensor data, a company can include it in reports. A cold-chain manager could request a temperature column and a filter for values that require attention. A fuel operation could organize the available attributes for its devices in a similar way.
The feature does not create measurements that the device never sent. The assistant works with variables available to that report in Secure GPS, so tracker compatibility, sensor mapping, and data quality remain essential.
This distinction makes it possible to use AI as a configuration tool without losing traceability: the source remains the information recorded by the devices.
Benefits for analysts and fleet managers
- Fewer configuration steps: one instruction can replace several manual selections.
- Easier-to-read reports: keep the required columns and organize them for the intended audience.
- Focused analysis: filters narrow the report to the relevant subset of information.
- Faster iteration: request a change, review the result, and continue refining it.
- Lower learning barrier: new users can describe the goal before learning every editor option.
- Verifiable configuration: columns and filters remain visible before the result is used for a decision.
Good practices for obtaining a useful report
Specific instructions produce better results than open-ended requests. It helps to state which information is required, who will use the report, and which condition a record must meet.
- Name the data you want to add or remove.
- Describe the expected column order when presentation matters.
- Include precise values, limits, or periods when requesting a filter.
- Confirm that the selected devices and dates match the analysis.
- Compare critical results with the map, history, or original records.
- Save or share only a version that has been reviewed by a responsible person.
The assistant accelerates configuration, but it does not replace operational judgment or guarantee that an ambiguous instruction represents the company's exact policy.
Technical summary for data and IT teams
- The assistant receives report context, including current columns and filters.
- It can insert, remove, replace, and reorder supported columns.
- It can insert, remove, replace, and reorder filters with available conditions and values.
- Actions are validated against the attributes supported by the report type.
- The conversation supports successive adjustments to the resulting configuration.
- The user retains final review before generating, exporting, or using the report.
